SNETTERTON WELCOMES NEW ERA SUPERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
31 August 2006 - MotorSport Vision

This weekend, the New Era Superclub Championships return to Snetterton, where their season exploded into life all the way back in May.

Well over 30 races will take place over the two-day double header meeting, which forms the penultimate Superclub weekend of 2006.

Many riders competing across the Superclub’s ten classes will be locals as many of Norfolk’s significant riding community come out to take on riders from all across the UK. One of these will be Thetford’s Dean Skipper in the Sound Of Thunder category, which provides the largest and most powerful bikes of the meeting. Aboard his Ducati 998, Skipper will be hoping to improve upon his best finish of seventh which he achieved at Pembrey in June. A strong field of 24 bikes has been entered for the four Thunder races over the weekend, with series leader Don Plane looking to get back to winning ways having gone four races without a victory.

Simon Beckett-Allen from Diss will be making his debut in the highly competitive Honda CB500 class at Snetterton. With Alex Gault Jr, winner of 12 races in a row earlier this year not competing, this weekend’s races will be a golden opportunity for all the other riders to get some wins on the board. One of those is Nicholas Thornton from Norwich who scored a best finish of sixth at his home track’s season-opener.

Possibly the best chance of local success lies with Norwich’s Jonty Dixon who returns to his stamping ground leading his series, with eight wins on the board already this year. Dixon will be keen to make amends for a slightly disappointing start to the year at Snetterton, where he recorded his worst finish of 2006 to date.

Meanwhile, a group of four Norwich riders will be making one off appearances in the Formula 600 class. The Yamaha trio of Eric Wilson, Paul Cutting and David Tinkler will join the Honda of James Sillett in spearheading a local attack on the series regulars, led by Jamie Wheatley on his Honda.

For some of the best action on two wheels, make sure you come to Snetterton this weekend!

Tickets for the New Era Club Bike Championships meeting at Snetterton will be available on the gate and are priced at £12. Children aged 12 and under are admitted free.
