SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS
15 September 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SHEFFIELD Pirtek Tigers have one last chance to qualify for the Premier League play-offs when they face a powerful Isle of Wight side at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45pm).

Nothing less than victory will do as Tigers look to finish in the top eight – but they won’t find it easy as the Islanders are more than capable of riding the unique Sheffield track well. Glasgow''s George Stancl rides for Sheffield in place of injured skipper Sean Wilson and Tigers will continue to operate the rider-replacement facility for the injured Andrew Moore. Isle of Wight include former Aussie Grand Prix star Craig Boyce, who likes the pacy Owlerton bowl, and French ace Sebastian Tressarieau has made a good return from injury. They arrive in South Yorkshire in good heart after a superb win over Reading on Tuesday which secured fourth place in the Premier League table for the Smallbrook side. Tigers star Ricky Ashworth, who beat world championship leader Jason Crump when riding for Elite League Peterborough on Tuesday, said: ''We need to win this meeting or our season is over, it''s as simple as that.”

TIGERS: George Stancl, Andrew Moore R/R, Richard Hall, Ricky Ashworth, Andre Compton, James Birkinshaw, Ben Wilson. ISLE OF WIGHT: Craig Boyce, Ulrich Ostegaard, Ray Morton, Jason Bunyan, Sebastian Tressariau, Glen Phillips, Krister Marsh.
