SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 21 AUGUST
21 August 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 SHEFFIELD promoter Neil Machin has backed the decision to re-stage the Premier League Fours at Workington on October 7. The event was postponed at the weekend due to torrential rain and will now take place one day before the PL Pairs at Glasgow. Machin said: ''It''s a great opportunity for fans to enjoy a full weekend away, and I''m sure plenty will make the trip north and stay overnight.'' SPEEDWAY 2 STOKE overcame Workington by 13 points with Paul Thorp top-scoring for the home side against his old club. The match was also billed as Alan Mogridge''s return to Loomer Road, but the ex-Potter fell in his first two rides. Stoke boss John Adams said: ''Although this was not about Thorp and Mogridge, the proof of what has gone on was there for all to see on the track.''
