19 August 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

BELLE Vue star Simon Stead goes for a 2007 Grand Prix place in Saturday''s Qualifying Final at Vetlanda.

Only the top three riders will clinch places in next year''s series with Stead, Chris Harris and David Howe the three British hopefuls in the meeting.

Stead said: ''It will be cut-throat. Everyone wants the same thing and there are going to be no easy races.''

SPEEDWAY 2

STOKE promoter Dave Tattum believes that Sunday''s clash with Workington could be the match of the season at Loomer Road.

The encounter has added spice due to ex-Potter Alan Mogridge making his Comets debut, and Stoke''s Paul Thorp facing his former club.

Tattum said: ''I have had a word with our riders and this is a massive meeting for the club and the supporters. I expect full commitment.''
