SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 16TH AUGUST
16 August 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 COVENTRY star Rory Schlein is facing around six weeks out after breaking his leg in Sweden on Tuesday evening. Schlein had made a remarkable recovery from a broken back last year, and has been a regular high scorer for the Bees this season. He fell on the last bend of a race at Avesta, and was hit by the following Robert Petterson, who was unable to avoid him. SPEEDWAY 2 WORKINGTON promoter Graham Drury says home track advantage will play no part when the club stages the Premier League Fours on Saturday. Holders Somerset have qualified to defend their title in a high-class and open field with eight teams involved. Drury said: ''It has all the ingredients of being a really exciting meeting, and I wouldn''t say we''re favourites - certainly, we''ll have no home track advantage.''
