NEW PART OFFERINGS Peugeot broke new ground when they introduced the Elystar in 2002, the first scooter to be equipped with anti-lock brakes. The new Executive version of their recently introduced Satelis 125cc maxi scooter continues this trend of innovation, with a sophisticated ABS-PBS braking system to prevent the wheels from locking up and a high security integral Abus chain, so that this highly desirable vehicle can be locked up at the end of the day. The ABS-PBS (Powered Braking) system combines three types of assistance: an anti-lock system linked to the twin 260mm discs on the front wheel, automatic distribution of brake force between the two wheels (through the left-hand rear brake lever) and electronic amplification of the force exerted on the lever. This makes significant difference in difficult conditions, especially on wet or greasy roads, when there are changes in the road surface and emergency stops. Drivers of executive model cars will feel at home on the Satelis. It offers plenty of legroom, while the automatic 4-stroke liquid cooled 4-valve motor pulls away strongly from a standstill, briskly reaching the top speed of 70mph. Its aerodynamically engineered bodywork complements the Euro-3 compliant engine to deliver a tank range of 380km (235 miles), minimising the need for fuel stops. The instrument panel features an embedded computer with LCD display, there a 12V power socket for mobile ‘phone, satellite navigation, etc and even a glove compartment by the dash board capable of holding a litre size bottle of water. Beneath the seat is a storage bay capable of holding 2 full face helmets, accessed using an opening mechanism with a hydraulic jack, similar to those on car boots. An Abus security chain, which is anchored to the chassis of the bike within the storage compartment, can be used to secure the bike to a railing or lamppost. The Peugeot Satelis Executive is available in metallic silver and metallic black and sells for £2,999 on the road.
