SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 13TH AUGUST
13 August 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1) ANDREAS Jonsson braved treacherous conditions to take his first-ever Grand Prix win at his home circuit of Malilla on Saturday. The Swede passed Hans Andersen to win the Final on a skidpan surface with Leigh Adams third and series leader Jason Crump falling on the first lap. Crump, however has extended his overall lead to 61 points and is likely to clinch the title at the next round in Prague. SPEEDWAY 2 SWEDISH captain Andreas Jonsson was delighted to finally shake off his ''nearly man'' tag with his triumph at the Scandinavian Grand Prix. Ironically his win came at the first GP to be held in Sweden since the retirement of Jonsson''s countryman, the great Tony Rickardsson. Jonsson said: ''I''m so happy, and I hope that now I''ve won one I can relax more without the pressure of never having won.''
