AMA TOUR TO ENGLAND
10 August 2006 - AMA Pro Racing
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and AMA Pro Racing have extended the registration price of $2000 for the package tour to the 2006 Motocross of Nations Tour for all AMA members.
This year’s Motocross of Nations will be held on Sept. 23-24, 2006, at the Matterley Basin circuit in Winchester England. The special tour package is a weeklong trip that provides tickets to the Motocross of Nations, and includes roundtrip airfare from New York, accommodations, a grand tour of London and ground transportation. All registration forms must be received by Thursday, August 10th at 5 p.m. eastern: $2000.00 (per person double occupancy) for all AMA Members; $2300.00 (per person double occupancy). The trip represents a unique opportunity to watch Team USA (Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto) race against the world’s top motocross riders in this historic competition. This year’s Motocross of Nations (formerly known as the Motocross des Nations) in England marks the 60th year of the prestigious series. Established in 1947 Motocross des Nations is the oldest running FIM event. During its storied history the Motocross of Nations has undergone some changes to the format; however, it has always remained the “Olympics” of motocross. The event establishes which country produces the fastest motocross racers and the winning team takes home the coveted Chamberlain Trophy. The United States and Great Britain lead with 16 wins each. Belgium has 14 wins. Team USA is the defending winner and will attempt this year to become the all-time wins leader of the Motocross of Nations. “This special tour package provides a great opportunity for fans to come together and travel to England to cheer on Team USA,” said AMA Pro Racing Motocross/Supercross Series Manager, Steve Whitelock. “We are hoping to field one of the strongest teams ever in this year’s competition and it’s essential for our riders to have the support of their home fans.” The 2006 AMA Motocross of Nations Tour departs from New York on Tuesday, Sept. 19 and arrives in England on Sept. 20. On Thursday, Sept. 22 the travelers will enjoy a Grey Line tour of London, visiting famous landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and St. Paul''s Cathedral. The itinerary also includes lunch at an authentic English Pub. On Friday, Sept. 22, the party will travel by coach to the hotel in Basingstoke. On Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 23-24) the travel party will be transported to the Matterley Basin circuit to watch the 60th Annual Motocross of Nations. On Monday, Sept. 25, tour goers will have a day to tour London independently and on Tuesday, Sept. 26, the American contingent will fly back to the U.S. aboard British Airways. The 2006 Motocross of Nations Tour is $2000 per person for all AMA Members and includes Team USA gear (MXoN hoodie, tee shirt and hat). Only 50 seats are available.
