RIDING INTO 2005 HARLEY-DAVIDSON ‘OPEN HOUSE’ – NATIONWIDE – 18-19 SEPTEMBER
13 September 2004 - Harley-Davidson UK

Start your engines. Harley-Davidson and Buell dealerships across the UK are firing up for the first public launch of the marques’ 2005 motorcycle line-up.

Participating UK dealerships will be hosting an ‘Open House’ for all motorcyclists and anyone wanting to experience Harley-Davidson or Buell to come along and see, hear and feel the brand new V-twin motorcycles.

With a wide range of free events and activities planned at dealerships, visitors can enjoy barbecues, live music, refreshments, charity ride-outs and best custom bike competitions – showing the extent customers go to personalise their Harley-Davidson from the 50,000 parts and accessories available from the Motor Company.

The Harley-Davidson 2005 line-up will be available to test ride at the dealers and includes the new FLSTNI Softail Deluxe with its nostalgic styling cues including a “tombstone” rear light assembly, and a tapered chrome luggage rack for easy touring. With lowered suspension, pull-back handlebars and a seat height of just 622mm the Deluxe combines all the character of classic Harley-Davidson motorcycles with the smooth and powerful fuel-injected Twin-Cam 88B engine.

Also from the Softail range is the new FLSTSCI Softail Springer Classic; a custom, retro style adding to an established classic – with an easily detachable pillion seat, “tombstone” rear light assembly, and crossover exhaust pipes restored just for this latest model. And the patent badge graces the oil tank for the first time in 60 years since the first “Springer” front end appeared on the ’48 Panhead.

And bringing the classic custom feel to the Dyna range is the new FXDCI Super Glide Custom. All the bare-boned styling of the previous Super Glide; but dipped in chrome to maximise the shine. The touches that make this motorcycle stand-out include silver powder-coated engine with chrome detailing, and a colour-matched console on the tank.

The Buell 2005 line-up powers into the dealerships in the form of the new Lightning CityX XB9SX. Retaining the innovative engineering traits of Buell’s XB series, the new CityX gives the rider a higher seat to see over traffic, handguards for protection and the excellent handling capabilities of the Buell chassis. And for the first time, Hero Blue see-through bodywork is fitted to the CityX – giving it distinctive Buell styling and allowing the rider to view the working parts of the motorcycle. And at £5,995 the new CityX is a great way to start commuting in style.

The Harley-Davidson range starts with the Sportster XL883 at £5,195 and includes the multiple award-winning V-Rod at £12,495.
