BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 13.9.04
13 September 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
IAN Thomas wants to see Workington stay in the Premier League and challenge for the championship next season.
The Comets are likely to finish runners-up to Hull after recent away wins over Sheffield and Glasgow. The boss said: “I know there’s talk of two clubs moving into the Elite League but I would like to see us stay where we are and go all-out for the league title next season.” EXETER are still hoping to start next season at their new track – despite talk of another season at the County Ground. That means their Premier League meeting with Rye House could be the last ever at their traditional home of 75-years. Co-promoter David Short said: ''Hopefully we will receive planning permission in time to declare our intention to run at the BSPA AGM. If not we may have to reconsider our options.''
