SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 5TH AUGUST
05 August 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 STOKE have released the long-serving Alan Mogridge and replaced him with fellow veteran Paul Thorp. The Potters have taken advantage of Thorp recently losing his place at Workington, and he will make his debut on Saturday against parent club Sheffield. Promoter Dave Tattum said: ''Alan has been a terrific servant to the club, but we had to accept that the team wasn''t getting the results expected.'' SPEEDWAY 2 BELLE Vue could be without Simon Stead for Monday''s Elite League match with Ipswich after the GB star suffered an arm injury. Stead crashed in Sweden on Thursday and has not broken the arm but does have soft tissue damage. The Aces will delay a decision on his fitness until Monday and operate the rider replacement rule if he cannot ride.
