WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
01 August 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

FAST Freddie Lindgren inspired the Parrys International Wolves to a resounding victory in difficult conditions over the men from Foxhall.

Elite League: WOLVES 56 IPSWICH 35

Lindgren dropped just one point, to Mark Loram when the former World Champion passed him in a good battle in Heat 9, and the young Swede headed a solid Wolverhampton scorechart that was in total contrast to that of their opposition.

The win and the aggregate bonus point keeps Wolves'' season very much alive as it also damages the play-off prospects of the Witches, who were almost entirely a two man side.

Track conditions were unsurprisingly wet after the rain during the day, but the racing improved as the match went on and it was Wolves who made the best of it in a meeting which included, most unusually, two 5-0s.

Both went to the home side, the first coming in Heat 2 when Ipswich''s Tobias Kroner had an engine failure on the start-line. His team-mate Daniel King led but also came to a stop on the second lap, causing Magnus Karlsson to fall, the referee therefore awarding Wolves a maximum.

The second whitewash came in Heat 11 when Kim Jansson fell on the second bend and cleared the track. A disappointing Pepe Protasiewicz led into turn three but then fell himself, and both Billy Hamill and William Lawson laid their machines down in avoidance. The race was re-run with just the two Wolverhampton riders.

Ipswich''s hopes of saving the bonus point - they came into the meeting with an eight-point lead - disappeared when Loram came in behind Peter Karlsson and Hamill in Heat 13, and Lindgren then took centre stage with wins in the last two races. In fact, Heat 15 would have been a Wolves 5-1 but for Karlsson encountering mechanical trouble - but by then the points were already in the bag.

WOLVES: Fredrik Lindgren 14, Peter Karlsson 11, Billy Hamill 9+2, William Lawson 7+1, Magnus Karlsson 6+1, Ronnie Correy 5+2, Christian Hefenbrock 4+1.
IPSWICH: Chris Louis 14+1, Mark Loram 11, Kim Jansson 4, Piotr Protasiewicz 2+1, Robert Miskowiak 2, Daniel King 1+1, Tobias Kroner 1.
