SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 27TH JULY
27 July 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 ALES Dryml''s remarkable recovery from life-threatening head injuries has continued with the Czech star released from hospital. Dryml has made astonishing progress since regaining consciousness just over a week ago after his horrific crash in Oxford''s match against Wolverhampton. A collection for Dryml held at Cowley yesterday evening as the Cheetahs took on Eastbourne raised a total in excess of £1,000. SPEEDWAY 2 PETERBOROUGH showed their title potential with a stunning 56-36 away win at Poole on a night of drama in the Elite League. The Pirates lost the only remaining unbeaten home record - and elsewhere League leaders Reading were overturned at home by Wolves. Coventry remained in touch with a win at Arena-Essex and there was joy for bottom club Oxford who beat Eastbourne and took the bonus point. SPEEDWAY 3 WORKINGTON have re-signed their club asset Rusty Harrison, recently axed by Edinburgh, to replace Paul Thorp in the Comets'' line-up. Promoter Graham Drury said: ''Rusty is a class act and will do a great job for us, and I thank the Edinburgh promotion for their co-operation. ''Paul will get a glowing reference from me, and we will do all we can to get him fixed up elsewhere.''
