READING 43 WOLVERHAMPTON 47

PARRYS International Wolves picked up a stunning 47-43 win at table-topping Reading on Wednesday to completely re-ignite their season.

The Bulldogs'' third home defeat of the campaign combined with Poole''s home thrashing by Peterborough and Eastbourne''s zero-points return from Oxford has put a totally different complexion on the play-off chase.

Peter Karlsson and Fredrik Lindgren finished things off in a last-heat decider after a marvellous team effort, Reading''s chances ending when Charlie Gjedde came to grief after Karlsson had made an important passing move on the Dane.

Gjedde was excluded and Wolves'' Swedish duo could then allow Greg Hancock to win the re-run and take the second and third places to secure the win and bonus point.

Wolves fought back from an early six point deficit, moving back into contention when Freddie Lindgren and Ronnie Correy took maximum points over a disappointing Matej Zagar.

But Reading still held the advantage through until Heat 11 and another Wolves 5-1 as Zagar lifted at the start and was left at the back. Karlsson and Christian Hefenbrock finished first and second to level the scores at 33-33.

The Bulldogs edged back in front in Heat 12 but Magnus Karlsson took an important second over Janusz Kolodziej - and the Wolves fans were then in dreamland when Peter Karlsson and Billy Hamill left Hancock on the receiving end of a 5-1 in Heat 13 thanks to some superb team riding.

Things got even better for the visitors as Lindgren re-passed Gjedde for the win in Heat 14, Magnus Karlsson''s third spot over Sam Simota allowing Wolves to go four points clear.

There was still a job to be done in the decider but Peter Karlsson and Lindgren carried it out, and Wolves'' third away win of the season has repaired some of the damage done by home defeats - and left plenty still to race for.

READING: Greg Hancock 10+1, Charlie Gjedde 9+1, Sam Simota 7, Janusz Kolodziej 6+1, Travis McGowan 6, Matej Zagar 3, Glenn Cunningham 2.

WOLVES: Peter Karlsson 12, Billy Hamill 10+1, Fredrik Lindgren 9+1, Magnus Karlsson 6, Christian Hefenbrock 5+1, Ronnie Correy 5+1, William Lawson 0.
