SNETTERTON HOSTS KRC ENDURANCE
26 July 2006 - MotorSport Vision
UK’s longest bike race this weekend
Snetterton is the proud home of the UK’s longest motorcycle race this weekend as the KRC Motorcycle Endurance Championship gets ready for its annual 8-Hour race, taking place on the same weekend as its international equivalent at Suzuka in Japan. Last time out at Pembrey in Wales, Team Serendipity (David Wood and David Higgins) on their 1000cc Suzuki stormed to a five-lap victory over the Alf’s Motorcycles Kawasaki squad (Russell Baker and Chris Frost), but it’s GB Moto (Mark Smith-Halvorsen/Roger Bennett/Richard Norris) who currently lead the championship. KRC will be visiting Norfolk for the second time this season. It was the Moores Racing Yamaha R1 which won the first meeting at Snetterton back in May, in what were truly appalling conditions for much of the 6-hour event. But there was little doubt that the event was a close one, with the Moores squad of James Hurrell, Jim Agombar and Keith Webster beating the C & K Racing Yamaha (Chris Jones, Kevin Jones, Ian Wooltorton) by just 14 seconds after 250 laps of racing! Local interest will be on Norwich-based Loddon Racing, who took pole position at their home track in May thanks to the sterling effort of Phil Jeans, and the team were looking good for a podium finish before Guy Hubbard unfortunately crashed in the awful weather. The team managed to do an extensive repair job to their Honda after which Jeans and Hubbard, along with team-mate Scott Ingram recovered to finish in 15th place. A field of around 30 bikes is expected, and eight hours of fantastic racing action is on the menu at Snetterton this weekend! Tickets for the KRC Endurance Championship meeting at Snetterton will be available on the gate, and are priced at £12 for adults, with children aged 12 and under admitted free.
