RETURN TO TOP FORM FOR JONES
13 September 2004 - Triumph ValMoto

Craig Jones scored his best finish since the opening round at Silverstone this weekend at his home round of Oulton Park.

The Northwich rider displayed some stunning riding in a fantastic return to form that saw him involved in a six-way dice for fourth place over the majority of the 16-lap race.

Jones got away from the grid with the leading pack. The front three riders quickly broke away, leaving a variety of manufacturers’ machines to battle it out for the remaining top slots.

By the halfway point of the highly competitive, nail-biting race at the 2.692-mile track, talented Jones had sliced through the opposition with some daring passes to place the Triumph ValMoto Daytona 600 in fourth position.

The 19-year-old slipped back a place before passing the chequered flag for a hard-earned fifth-place finish in an extremely closely-run race. Jones had vowed that he was determined to perform well in front of his loyal local fans at the Cheshire circuit as a thank you for the support that he has received over the 2004 season.

Triumph ValMoto team manager Jack Valentine said: “We’re really pleased with the result this weekend, especially as Oulton Park is the team’s home circuit. The whole package of the bike, Pirelli tyres and Jones were working well together ahead of the race, so we were confident of achieving a strong result.

“We’re now looking to Donington Park with the aim of achieving the team and Craig’s second consecutive podium finish there for the final race of the season.”
