SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 24 JULY
24 July 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 NEWCASTLE boss George English paid tribute to his side after seeing them beat Workington 53-39 at Brough Park. James Grieves top scored with 11 for the Diamonds and he had good support from Josef Franc and Christian Henry with 10. English said: ''The lads rode well as a team unit and reaped the benefits. I think the eventual score flattered Workington somewhat, but that''s how Speedway goes at times.'' SPEEDWAY 2 TALENTED teenager Josh Auty continued his stunning run of form with a 15-point maximum in Scunthorpe''s 59-36 demolition of Stoke. The result means Scorpions have one foot in the Conference League Knockout Cup semi-finals. Richie Dennis was also unbeaten by a visiting rider and scored 14+1 on a good afternoon for the home side. Stoke will be looking to bounce back in the second leg at Loomer Road this Wednesday.
