“EUROPE’S DAYTONA” HITS RECORD ATTENDANCE LEVELS
11 September 2004 - Harley-Davidson UK

100,000 people converge on European Bike Week,Faaker See, Austria 1-5 September

European Bike Week, “Europe’s Daytona” as it has become affectionately known, has been growing year-on-year since its inception in 1998, and 2004 was no exception. With over 100,000 people and 65,000 motorcycles travelling to the Austrian lakes this year the event has blown away all previous attendance records.

Every year Harley-Davidson has a massive presence at European Bike Week with its “Harley Village” that dominates the south side of Faaker See. Tens of thousands of people congregate at the bars and restaurants within, seeing the all-new 2005 range motorcycles in Harley-Davidson’s Expo tent, watching spectacular fashion shows, stunt displays from motorcycles and aeroplanes, live bands and getting great deals on Harley-Davidson merchandise with an array of trade stands from dealerships all over Europe.

Harley-Davidson riders from as far away as Finland, South Africa and the United States brought their machines to tour the fantastic riding roads of the Carinthian mountains and experience the great atmosphere of 100,000 fellow enthusiasts all coming together to celebrate their love of riding.

The highlight of the five-day festival was the parade on the Saturday morning, where 15,000 motorcycles took part circling the shoreline of the lake, and creating a spectacle that astounded the thousands of locals who had gathered to watch. Bikes ranging from outrageous custom designs to the latest in the range of factory accessories for the multi-award winning V-Rod were on show, with the acres of polished chrome reflecting the afternoon sun.

Anyone wishing to attend next year’s European Bike Week should put the dates
7-11 September 2005 in their diaries. Call 00 43 424242000 to book your accommodation.
