21 July 2006 - Suzuki Racing
Suzuki International Europe rider Andreas Meklau has increased his lead in the German Superbike Championship after 8 rounds despite suffering poor starts at the weekend’s Nurburgring round.
The Austrian rider, who qualified his GSX-R1000 on pole, clawed from the back to fourth and fifth positions and now heads the 16-race Superbike IDM series by 17 points over Wibers Racing-sponsored Christian Kellner on his GSX-R1000 Suzuki. Meklau’s team mate Roman Stam raced to eighth place in both races and currently holds ninth in the championship. German Superbike Points (after 8 rounds): 1 Andreas Meklau (Suzuki GSX-R 1000) 131, 2 Christian Kellner (Suzuki GSX-R1000) 114, 3 Jorg Teuschert (Yamaha) 113, 4 Martin Bauer (Honda) 110, 5 Stefan Nebel (Kawasaki) 95. 9 Roman Stamm (Suzuki GSX-R1000) 71.
