TOP TEN HOPES FOR HOME ROUND
10 September 2004 - Triumph ValMoto

Craig Jones is hoping for his fourth top ten finish from four starts at his home round of the British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park this weekend.

The Northwich-based rider is confident about achieving his aim after securing a strong points-scoring finish at round 11 of the series at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 2.692-mile Cheshire track is one of the talented 19-year-old’s favourite circuits on the 13-round 2004 calendar. He has scored two eighth-place finishes and a ninth position in the past three Supersport races aboard the Triumph ValMoto Daytona 600.

As always, a large amount of support is expected for Jones at his home circuit. He is determined to return to the podium, spurred on by local fans. Jones is also concentrating on passing the chequered flag ahead of Carl Crutchlow, who is currently equal ninth with the Triumph ValMoto contender on overall points.

Team Manager Jack Valentine said: “The bike and the whole package is working well, so we are expecting a good result. Having had the break that we had been looking for at Cadwell Park, we will continue from there and aim back towards the podium for the final two rounds of the season.”

Craig Jones said: “I always enjoy racing at Oulton Park because the crowd is fantastic and I’ve got good knowledge of the track . It is one of my favourite tracks and I usually go well there. It would be great to get back on the podium in front of my home crowd and thank them for their loyalty.”
