NOBLE RACES CAS DUO ON HOME GROUND
20 July 2006 - Maxxis

RWJ Honda rider James Noble will be looking to keep his MX1 championship hopes alive on home turf against the CAS pairing of De Dycker and Coppins

In MX2 the nail-biting battle between Nunn, Searle and MacKenzie is set to continue this weekend at round six of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship at Skelders Bank, Whitby.

It will be the second time the Whitby MX Club will host a round of the British Championship after their debut in 2005 nearly didn’t happen due to heavy rain at the picturesque circuit overlooking the seaside town.

A last minute reprieve allowed the event to go ahead and it proved to be an absolute cracker. In MX1 a season long battle was building to a thrilling conclusion as James Noble, Josh Coppins and Paul Cooper traded blows leaving the penultimate North Yorkshire round with just eight points separating them.

In MX2, Carl Nunn kept a cool head picking up two third place finishes which was more than enough to wrap up the Championship for the KTM rider with one round to go.

Fast forward to 2006 and little has changed. In MX1 Noble is the closest challenger to CAS Honda rider De Dycker with Coppins back from injury and looking to continue his winning ways while PAR Homes rider Mark Jones will be in the mix and hoping to spoil the party.

Meanwhile MX2 is a very closely fought affair with Nunn just five points ahead of wonderkid Tommy Searle while MacKenzie will be looking to make amends for a poor Desertmartin round to stay within reach of the championship title.

The Whitby organising team headed by John Noble have once again put an enormous amount of effort into their event and are looking forward to welcoming motocross fans as the most Northerly event in the Maxxis British Motocross Championship. It promises to be a real treat.

Action commences from 9.30 on Sunday the 23rd July with tickets £20 for adults.
