BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 10.9.04
10 September 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
FORMER Sheffield rider Simon Stead played a vital part in smashing the Tigers'' unbeaten home League run which stretched way back to 1998.
Stead scored a 15-point maximum as his Workington team snatched a 46-44 win on a dramatic and historic night at Owlerton. Stead said: ''It''s fantastic for me to get a maximum and win the meeting with Workington, but I still have a lot of friends here at Owlerton.'' POOLE promoter Matt Ford has played tribute to manager Neil Middleditch, describing the Pirates boss as ''outstanding.'' The Pirates, looking to defend the Elite League crown, have qualified automatically for the Play-Off Final and are awaiting their opponents. Ford said: ''I have always believed that Neil is the most important card in our pack because he''s so good at his job. He has been outstanding again this season.''
