EIGHTH PLACE FOR HIROSHI AOYAMA AT THE SACHSENRING GP
16 July 2006 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG
RR WCH 250 Round 10: German Grand Prix / Sachsenring Race (16.07.2006)
Red Bull KTM GP 250 racers Hiroshi Aoyama and Manuel Poggiali go into the well earned summer break with an eighth and 13th place in the German Grand Prix. The 24-year-old Hiroshi got away to a good start but had to bow to pressure from the competition right after the first corner of the difficult 29-lap race. He finally finished in eighth place. His teammate, the one-year-younger Manuel Poggiali was not so fortunate with his start and for most of the race led a group of six to finally cross the line in 13th place. Now the team will use the four weeks up until the Grand Prix in Brno for some rest and recreation and to work on the further development of the KTM FRR 250. The KTM management and Harald Bartol’s hard working team are very satisfied with what has been achieved so far. At the beginning of the season no one had reckoned on regular top places for the orange machines. Hiroshi Aoyama, with the first victory in the 250 class, two third places and the first pole position, is in a very credible fifth place in the world championship standings. Hiroshi Aoyama #4 Red Bull KTM GP 250 — 8th place “My race was probably not as exciting to watch as usual, but it was a difficult race for me. The start was good, but then my rhythm was too slow and I could not fight back strongly enough to ensure seventh place. Now I go to Laguna Seca and then I will see my family in Japan.” Manuel Poggiali # 54 Red Bull KTM GP 250 — 13th place “My start was not as good as normal and I had some difficulties with the different handling of my KTM with a full tank, which improved during the race. Now I will go and have a complete holiday.“ Circuit: dry/28°C Air temperature: 19°C
