12 July 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
Elite League: OXFORD 41 WOLVES 51 PARRYS International Wolves took their second away win of the season as they pulled back an early eight-point deficit to win by ten at bottom club Oxford. It was a night of celebration for Magnus Karlsson, the Swede enjoying his best performance of the season with paid 15 at reserve, whilst Fredrik Lindgren recovered from early trouble to reel off four straight wins. But the meeting was marred by a serious crash in Heat 7 when race leader Ales Dryml drifted wide and clipped the fence on the last bend. Lindgren, riding the inside, managed to avoid him but the following Ronnie Correy had nowhere to go and hit the Czech rider heavily despite attempting to broadslide in avoidance. Dryml was taken to hospital with head injuries, whilst although Correy was able to walk off the track he did not ride again as he was suffering from double-vision. The crash knocked the stuffing out of Oxford, who had been 22-14 up after six races, but Wolves then turned things around completely. Karlsson summed up his form with a confident swoop around David Howe in Heat 12 - and a maximum from Peter Karlsson and Billy Hamill over tactical ride Todd Wiltshire in the next secured the win. Heat 14 was the best of the night as Lindgren went from third to first, sweeping around the boards to pass first Adam Skornicki and then Lubos Tomicek, the Pole eventually moving into second to score four points on a tactical ride. OXFORD: Adam Skornicki 12, Todd Wiltshire 10, Davey Watt 7+1, Lubos Tomicek 4+1, David Howe 4, Ales Dryml 3, Eric Andersson 1. WOLVES: Magnus Karlsson 13+2, Fredrik Lindgren 12, Billy Hamill 10+2, Peter Karlsson 9, Ronnie Correy 4+1, Tomas Suchanek 3, r/r for Christian Hefenbrock. *WOLVES travel to Ipswich on Thursday with a fitness doubt concerning Ronnie Correy along with Christian Hefenbrock''s neck injury. Confirmed team news to follow.
