TITLE hopefuls Wolverhampton can take another massive step towards booking a home draw in the play-offs when they face great rivals Coventry at Monmore on Wednesday (7.30pm).
And Monmore manager Peter Adams is warning his riders to expect a tough test against a Bees side who have suffered a miserable season so far. They have been boosted by the signing of Russian Sergy Darkin who has been scoring heavily at reserve in recent weeks - including a 14+1 haul at Belle Vue in a narrow defeat on Monday. Adams said: ''We cannot underestimate our neighbours and rivals. I''m sure they will bring plenty of support with them and that can make a big difference. ''All of a sudden they have become a very competitive team once again and we need to be on our toes against them, particularly at this crucial stage of the season.'' Ipswich''s defeat at Peterborough on Monday and Eastbourne''s draw with Swindon were both good results for Wolves who aim to finish second in the regular league standings to ensure home advantage in the all-important play-offs. Poole have already booked their place in the final and Wolverhampton will be looking to join them in a bid to repeat their title glory of two seasons ago. Chris Neath gets the nod at reserve for Wolves who will again use the rider-replacement facility for injured Swede Daniel Nermark. WOLVES: Mikael Max, Fredrik Lindgren, Sam Ermolenko, Daniel Nermark R/R, David Howe, Chris Neath, Adam Skornicki. COVENTRY: Andreas Jonsson, Chris Harris, Stuart Robson, Morten Risager, Billy Janniro, Tomasz Piszcz, Sergy Darkin.
