WOLVERHAMPTON MATCH REPORT
11 July 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
Elite League: WOLVES 44 SWINDON 46 PARRYS International Wolves let an early eight-point lead slip to go down to a shock home defeat at the hands of Swindon. The Robins provided the bulk of the race winners in tricky track conditions due to the weather, and skipper Leigh Adams took control of the final race when Wolves needed a heat advantage to force at least a draw. There appeared to be no problems for the hosts when Ronnie Correy and Fredrik Lingdren left Adams trailing in Heat 5, a 5-1 putting them six points up, and they made it 22-14 with a 4-2 in Heat 6. But Swindon took the next four races 17-7 to go in front thanks to a shock 5-1 over Peter Karlsson in Heat 10. Wolves dragged themselves level in Heat 12 but after a fine battle between Adams and Peter Karlsson in Heat 13, won by the Swindon man, the Robins went back in front thanks to a late pass by Renat Gafurov on Tomas Suchanek, who failed to score on his debut. Then it was left to Adams to wrap things up for the visitors and leave Wolves reflecting on a second home Elite League defeat of the season which gives the away trips this week added importance. WOLVES: Fredrik Lindgren 10+2, Peter Karlsson 10, Magnus Karlsson 8+2, Billy Hamill 7+1, Ronnie Correy 7, Christian Hefenbrock 2+1, Tomas Suchanek 0. SWINDON: Leigh Adams 13, Adrian Miedzinski 10+1, Lee Richardson 9, Sebastian Ulamek 8, Renat Gafurov 3+1, Mads Korneliussen 3, r/r for Sebastian Alden.
