SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 7.7.06
07 July 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

SWEDISH youngster Sebastian Alden has quit Swindon after a disappointing run of results.
Alden made his decision after scoring just one point in the Robins'' 49-44 win over Poole at Blunsdon on Thursday.
Swindon boss Alun Rossiter said: ''I''m disappointed as the club has worked hard to help Seb up the speedway ladder, but I''ll now be actively seeking to bring in another rider.''

SPEEDWAY 2

STEVE Boxall made a superb home debut for Ipswich in the Elite League by winning his first two races against Belle Vue.
The Rye House youngster beat Danish star Kenneth Bjerre in Heat 7 and totalled eight (paid nine) in the Witches'' 52-43 win.
Boxall said: ''I loved the track, and the Elite League is where I eventually want to be. The crowd were great and gave me fantastic support.''

SPEEDWAY 3

JEFF Scott''s new book ''Showered in Shale'' - a journey around the country for the duration of a speedway season - has attracted rave reviews.
Scott travelled 10,000 miles during 2005 to attend 70 meetings from 30 tracks. The result is a book which has been compared in quality to football''s ''Fever Pitch'' and includes interviews with the sports'' personalities at all levels, plus the author''s own thoughts on the entertainment on show.
Scott is now back on the road to sign copies, and will shortly be attending Workington (July 15), Buxton (July 16), Stoke (July 22) and the Isle of Wight (August 1).
The book is available from track shops up and down the country for £20, or via www.methanolpress.com . Alteratively, send a £25 cheque (to cover P&P) made payable to J.Scott to Methanol Press, 2 Tidy Street, Brighton, BN1 4EL.
A donation to the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund will be made for all copies sold.
