ALBERT CABESTANY FINISHES SECOND IN ITALY AFTER TYING FOR THE WIN
06 July 2006 - Sherco

An excellent performance by the Sherco team in the GP of Italy, which was marked by the extreme heat and the very close competition

The Sherco rider placed well in the very hard GP of Italy, which was marked by the intense heat and the very close competition by the leading riders. Albert Cabestany fought from the first section for the victory and was in second place after lap one. Albert continued to ride well and did not suffer any time penalty points, his final score of 39 was the exact same score of Takahisa Fujinami who was declared the winner by having more zeros than Albert (18 vs. 17). This second place result did however allow Albert to reduce the distance between him and the riders who precede him in the standings. The overall race has gotten even tighter.

Albert Cabestany: “This was a very hard race with the heat and the dust. After the effort we expended it is disappointing that we did not get to celebrate the outright victory since we tied for first place, however that is the way it goes sometimes. All in all, we are satisfied with the fact that we continue to improve and close the gap on the competition.”
