FIFTH PLACE FOR CABESTANY
28 June 2006 - Sherco
Fifth in this round and also in the provisional Championship
The sections were initially very difficult, however the torrential rain that fell Saturday night and early Sunday morning made them even more difficult, the organizers had to modify several of the sections before the riders could compete. The slippery wet conditions caused many high scores in the first lap of this event which was held near La Chatre in France. The Sherco rider Albert Cabestany finished the first lap in third place 2 points behind second place. The sections changed completely after the rain stopped, it was like riding an entirely different trial, and the lessons learned on the first lap did not apply to the second lap. Albert did not have a good second lap and ended up finishing the trial in fifth place, he is also in fifth place in the provisional standings; however he is only one point behind the fourth place rider. Albert Cabestany: “It was a very hard first lap, the second lap was entirely different and you could not make a mistake if you wanted to place well. The scores again were very tight and one thing for certain after the victory in Japan, this fifth place today is a little disappointing.”
