RR WCH 250 8TH ROUND: GRAND PRIX OF NETHERLANDS / ASSEN RACE
25 June 2006 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG
Red Bull KTM GP 250 riders both in the top 10 Both Red Bull KTM riders Hiroshi Aoyama and Manuel Poggiali registered an excellent team result at the Netherlands Grand Prix with ninth place for the 24-year old Japanese and the first top 10 place for Manuel Poggiali riding a KTM. The Red Bull KTM riders rode a good GP 250 race in front of a colorful crowd of more than 91,500 spectators on a sunny race day with temperatures around 22°C. Hiroshi Aoyama was held up in the first lap due to a crash and had to ride out onto the grass to avoid it. Fortunately the congenial Japanese rider did not crash himself but sacrificed several places in the process and was rather dejected concerning his ninth place finish. Manuel Poggiali made good a couple places at the start, rode a good race and despite several slight problems came across the finish line in 10th place at the close of the 24-lap race. Hiroshi Aoyama #4 Red Bull KTM GP 250 – 9th place “My start was good, but than it was a strange situation. One guy was getting wild and crazy and took out a couple of other riders with him. I had to go off the track into the grass and still touched a bike that was sliding on the ground. Today that cost me some places. I’m sad as my bike was really running well.” Manuel Poggiali # 54 Red Bull KTM GP 250 – 10th place “My start was good and I could make up five places in the first lap. From lap seven I was in front of a group of five but couldn’t close the gap on the guys in front of us. But I’m happy that I finished in Top 10 today and would like to thank my team for another weekend where they worked hard to improve our KTM 250.” Harald Bartol – Race Director “Except for the incident in the first lap the race was absolutely ok. Both riders delivered a good performance, not just today but also over the whole weekend. I am satisfied. Manuel had some small problems with the engine in the last laps. We’ll have to determine what they are over the coming days. “ Track: dry Air: 22°C
