SPEEDWAY 1

NEWPORT have been boosted by the return of Neil Collins for Tuesday''s crucial Knockout Cup second leg tie against Edinburgh.

The veteran Collins has been sidelined for nearly two months after breaking his collarbone at Rye House.

Promoter Tim Stone said: ''Neil''s comeback will give everyone a lift and I''m sure we can make a real go of pulling back the 16 points we need to.''

SPEEDWAY 2

BELEAGURED Arena-Essex promoter Ronnie Russell feels the worst of the Hammers'' recent injury nightmares are now behind them.

Henning Bager hopes to make his comeback next Wednesday and Mikael Max suffered no serious damage when he had to withdraw at Ipswich on Thursday.

Russell said: ''I ask the fans to bear with us as we started the season well and I''m confident we''ll soon start moving back up the table.''
