RR WCH 250 ROUND 8: RED BULL KTM GP 250 — ON THE RIGHT TRACK
23 June 2006 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG

Grand Prix of Netherlands / Assen Final Qualifying (23.06.2006)

The 24-year-old Red Bull KTM rider Hiroshi Aoyama and his one year younger colleague Manuel Poggiali will start in Saturday’s race from grid positions 10 and 17 on the newly remodeled circuit at Assen. KTM “Hero” Aoyama missed making the first line of the grid by 3.5 tenths and said with a broad grin that the rider wasn’t fast enough”.

Manuel Poggiali was also satisfied with the improvements made with his KTM and is very relaxed going into the 22-lap race on Saturday.

Hiroshi Aoyama #4 Red Bull KTM GP 250 – 10th Position – 1’41.604
“Just as in the first qualifying my KTM again went very well today. I think here in Assen it is all about the rider. Absolute concentration is necessary and you have to be brave enough to really go for it. Today I didn’t have big enough balls.”

Harald Bartol — Technical and Race Director
The training went well for us. The team had worked hard from yesterday to today to make improvements on the chassis and the engine. I found a good line and we will have the small problems we experienced today in hand by tomorrow. Then we’ll be well prepared for the race and with a bit of luck we’ll also have a good result.”

Harald Bartol – Technical and Race Director “Our Red Bull KTM worked really well also here in Assen. I am very satisfied with the results of the riders, even when Hiroshi believed he should have put in more effort. Manuel also went very well. Both the bikes are fast and it doesn’t look bad for the race tomorrow. Let’s see what we can do.“

Circuit: dry
Air: 20°C
