SEVEN WAYS TO ENJOY NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE WEEK
02 July 2006 - Motor Cycle Industry Association Ltd

There is plenty of fun to be had during National Motorcycle Week. Riders and non-riders can join together to enjoy the world of two-wheeled machines

16th July – Prepare
Get your bike ready for the week ahead. Give it a good clean and check the basics. A well maintained bike is safer and will give you a much better ride – it will last a lot longer too.

17th July – Participate
National Motorcycle Week is finally here, so now is the time to get active. Hold an event yourself, such as a bikers barbecue or a charity concert or ride out. Get others involved, talk to your local dealer or contact clubs.

18th July - Speak Out
National Motorcycle Week aims to celebrate bikes and scooters an tell other people about the benefits, fun and freedom associated with it. Tell the press about any bike club activities,

planned pillion rides, bikers breakfasts, group riding, charity work or other events. This is also the time to talk to politicians about motorcycling issues—the MCIA had a dedicated

‘campaign’ section where you can email your local MP on specific issues at www.mcia.co.uk

19th July - Ride to Work
Today is Ride to Work Day, so this is the time to show your non-riding friends or work colleagues just what they are missing. Give them a lift to work and try to get all of your keen friends to do the same. Why not try and get the oldest and youngest member of staff to take the pillion challenge?

20th July - Club Classics
There are hundreds of motorcycle clubs across the UK that plan trips, events and get involved in charity work. If you are already a member see if you can get more involved and help keep motorcycling alive in the UK. If you haven’t got membership why not join—you can find out more in bike mags, on websites or even MAG www.maguk. org or BMF www.bmf.co.uk.

21st July – Group Riding
Celebrate the arrival of the weekend with your buddies and go out together to enjoy the summer evening and relish in your shared passion for the two-wheeled experience.

22nd July – Get Active
Why not do something different? There is so many opportunities for riders so why not sign up for something new and different like an off-road course, a BikeSafe assessment, further training or a touring break. Join an Owners Club to get really involved and find some like minded aficionados to share the experiences with.

23rd July – Watch the Professionals
National Motorcycle Week comes to an end and the day of rest arrives, but it is still an exciting day if you watch the US MotoGP at Laguna Sec and get some friends round, turn on the telly and admire the skills of the professionals in the comfort of your own home.
