WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY: MATCH PREVIEW + PAIRS RESULT
04 June 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
WOLVERHAMPTON legend Mikael Max returns to Monmore Green with new club Arena-Essex on Monday night (7.30pm). Max, who first joined the Black Country side in 1993, suffered a broken thigh almost a year ago and was ruled out of Wolverhampton''s plans. But he has made a comeback and will spend the rest of the season on loan with the Hammers. He is sure to be a threat in what promises to be an exciting and tense battle as the Hammers include three other ex-Wolves - Roman Povazhny, Steve Johnston and Paul Hurry. Magnus Karlsson has declared himself fit but Peter Adams'' men are without key reserves Ben Wilson and Christian Hefenbrock who are away on world under-21 team duty. There is also a doubt over invincible skipper Peter Karlsson who is due for physio on a neck injury. Coventry''s British Grand Prix star Scotty Nicholls is on stand-by to make a guest appearance. Adams said: ''This is going to be a real tester and they will fancy their chances because they know our track so well. ''It''s great to see Mikael back on a bike, but we could do with him not really scoring too many points against us!'' WOLVES: Peter Karlsson, Magnus Karlsson, Ronnie Correy, Freddie Lindgren, Billy Hamill, Matthew Wethers, Kevin Little. ARENA-ESSEX: Mikael Max, Roman Povazhny, Leigh Lanham, Steve Johnston, Joonas Kylmakorpi, Mariusz Puszakowski, Paul Hurry. *WOLVES duo Fredrik Lindgren and Ronnie Correy were unable to make their way out of Group A in the Elite League Pairs at Swindon on Sunday. The highlight for the Monmore men was Lindgren''s win in the pair''s fourth outing against Ipswich, and the Swede also notched a battling second between Peterborough duo Hans Andersen and Niels-Kristian Iversen in their final race. Lindgren finished with 11 points from his five races with Correy, a late replacement for the injured Peter Karlsson, on two. That gave Wolves 13 overall - other scores in the group were Swindon 31, Peterborough 26, Eastbourne 25, Coventry 23 and Ipswich 17. Belle Vue emerged as overall winners as Jason Crump and Simon Stead took second and third places in the Final. That ended Swindon''s winning run in the event as although Leigh Adams won the last race, Sebastian Ulamek was at the back.
