WIN NUMBER SIX FOR SPALDING
19 June 2006 - Centurion Racing

Snetterton - June 16th - 18th

18-year-old Pete Spalding took a fantastic sixth consecutive win in the British Supersport Cup at the weekend (16th - 18th June). Spalding took the win at the super fast Snetterton Circuit and once again dominated proceedings in the Cup. In baking hot conditions and a huge crowd the youngster took his Dunlop-shod Honda CBR 600-RR to Pole Position in the Cup, race win and also setting the fastest Cup lap in the race in the process.

He was struggling to get to grips with the ultra fast 1.95-mile circuit but as the weekend progressed he gained more confidence and was feeling stronger as he headed into Sunday''s race. The British Supersport Cup runs as part of the main British Supersport race, qualifying in 22nd position overall it was necessary for the youngster to get his head down during the race.

A good start saw Spalding move up to 20th position overall and leader of the Cup riders. He was locked in a tight battle with fellow cup rider Aaron Walker and ex British Superbike rider Shane Norval. Fighting hard to ensure that Walker did not get the better of him he soon began to bridge a gap and was hunting down factory Ducati rider Martin Jessop.

It was Spalding that dominated the Cup race over the 19 laps and gained another 25-points in the Championship standings, taking him 64-points clear of his nearest rival Aaron Walker. Commenting a delighted Spalding said ''It''s been another good weekend for me and once again the team worked fantastically well to help me gain another win. I was struggling a bit in the race as I opted for a softer compound tyre to cope with the heat conditions. The track was slightly cooler than the previous days and this tyre only lasted half the race distance. I was sliding around a lot for the remaining laps so I just wanted to ensure that I brought it home safe and got another good result.''

Team Manager Paul Rees said ''We''d like to say a big thank you to Clive Padgett for all his helpful support and assistance throughout the year. He''s been a great help to us and hopefully we can continue getting some good results as the season progresses. Pete is growing in confidence at each round and we hope that he can carry on this great form into the next rounds.''
