SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 17TH JUNE

SPEEDWAY 1

ARENA-ESSEX have signed Brent Werner as their new No.8 - and the American will go straight into action against former club Eastbourne on Saturday.

Werner lost his place at Arlington due to injury, whilst the Hammer''s previous No.8 Shaun Tacey has now joined Poole.

Promoter Ronnie Russell said: ''Brent will do a good job for us, and I am sure he will want to prove a point to Eastbourne.''

SPEEDWAY 2

STOKE have secured the backing of Corbetts Bookmakers for the prestigious Conference League Fours at Loomer Road next Saturday.
The event promises to be a feast of speedway with each Conference team sending their top riders to the Staffordshire venue.
Promoter Dave Tattum said: ''I''d like to thank Mike Corbett for his support, it''s a terrific gesture and we intend to make it a very entertaining meeting.''
