Round 4 of Toyota AMA Motocross Championship Set for Tomorrow
Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael continued his dominance in the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship presented by FMF, setting the fastest lap time during Saturday’s practice in preparation for Sunday’s FMF Budds Creek National. Missing from the mix was Kawasaki’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., who posted the fastest lap time a week ago at Southwick but is sitting out the Budds Creek event due to injuries sustained the last two races. Honda’s Kevin Windham, of Centreville, Miss., was the third fastest in the AMA Motocross class with a time of 2:36.920. In Motocross Lites, Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto, of Poulsbo, Wash., set the fastest lap time of 2:35.665 ahead of the 2:36.634 posted by Yamaha’s Matt Walker, of McDonough, Ga. Honda’s Andrew Short, of Murrieta, Calif., was third fastest with a 2:36.920. Carmichael carries a 14-point lead over Reed heading into tomorrow’s event, which gets underway at 1 p.m. KTM’s Mike Alessi, of Victorville, Calif., has a 25-point lead on Short in AMA Motocross Lites.
