BMF GEMS REALLY SHINES!
16 June 2006 - BMF

The Garden of England Motorcycle Show, Hop Farm Country Park, Paddock Wood, Kent,

Despite the competition of England’s World Cup match last Saturday, the BMF’s Garden of England Motorcycle Show (GEMS) still attracted bikers in their thousands to a scorching Kent over the weekend.

Now in its 11th year at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, Kent, this well-established and much liked show saw 18,557 enthusiasts attend over the two-day event. Needless to say, the England vs Paraguay match had an effect on Saturday’s attendance, but only by a few hundred, no doubt offset to some extent by having a large TV screen showing the match live in a packed beer tent!

Like England’s performance, the success of GEMS was also welcome news after the appalling weather that affected the BMF Show only three weeks ago. Sun–drenched crowds watching the main arena saw an action-packed programme throughout the weekend with the Xtreme Trials Display team going to extremes to please; the youngsters of Flying Tigers Display Team using bikes to do it together while Moto-Stunts International put themselves through loops, hoops and over ramps in their thrill a minute aerobatic display of bike acrobatics.

Trade and club stall holders declared themselves happy with the weekend with Mark Bowen of Mark Bowen Motorcycles perhaps summing it best up when he said: “This is the show we aim to do every year and again it has been a good event for us”.

Next in the BMF’s annual programme of events is Kelso Bike Fest 15 -16th July, followed by the BMF’s own version of a party in the park – Tail End 16-17th September at Peterborough’s East of England Showground.
