Alpine Sat-Nav to Use Trafficmaster
Agreement Will Provide Ultimate Driver Navigation Alpine Electronics, a leading manufacturer of satellite navigation solutions, has announced a partnership with the UK’s leading provider of real-time traffic information RAC Trafficmaster Telematics (RTT). The agreement with Trafficmaster will allow Alpine satellite navigation products to benefit from Trafficmaster’s Radio Data System Traffic Message Channel (RDS TMC) service, which will provide huge benefits for in car driver information via Satellite Navigation. This service, which will replace Alpine’s existing TMC supplier for these products in the UK, will be available on all Alpine screen based full map satellite navigation systems from May 2006. Alpine’s UK Sales & Marketing Director, Graham Johnson, explains the decision to use Trafficmaster: “Alpine was one of the first companies to develop and market electronic mapping devices and has built a strong brand based on high quality, feature rich, reliable products. The agreement with RTT means that we can be confident that we will continue to provide advanced market leading products incorporating the best services available.” The RTT TMC service will be available on all Alpine sat nav systems from May 2006, including the impressive NVE-N099P which boasts the fastest processor on the market. RTT information is used to alert drivers to traffic delays and help automatically divert them around the problem. This dynamic navigation will help drivers save time and allow drivers to concentrate on the road ahead. The touch-screen enabled system combined with the latest live traffic information should prove to be one of the most capable systems on the market keeping Alpine at the forefront in car sat nav solutions. RAC Trafficmaster Telematics (RTT) Overview RTT has quickly established itself as a major supplier of TMC traffic data in the UK. RTT offers real-time traffic speed flow data, which is collated from over 7,500 roadside sensors located across 95% of the UK’s motorways and trunk roads. Combined with RAC incident based the traffic information is then disseminated via RDS within the commercial radio station broadcasts through agreements held with GCap Media and Chrysalis Radio.
