The GP of Japan was the second overseas competition in a row for the riders competing in the World Trials Championship. The event which was held at the Motegi Twin Ring in Japan turned out to be very positive for the Sherco colors, with a double podium and the first outright victory of the season for Albert Cabestany. The Sherco rider had an outstanding weekend with two podiums, a third place on Saturday and a victory on Sunday. On Saturday he was within 3 marks of the victory, with a greater knowledge of the course and drier conditions Sunday was his day. Albert was able to defeat the existing Champion of the World, Adam Raga; Albert was in outstanding form and dominated the second lap on Sunday scoring only 2 points. With this triumph, and the third place he obtained on Saturday, Albert Cabestany has moved up a place in the provisional classification, he is now in fourth place, five points behind third. Albert Cabestany: “This was a very important victory to me and my team, because it permits us to recover our confidence after a shaky start of the season. I expect that this will be the beginning of more good results for us. Today was an impeccable day, the motorcycle and the team functioned to perfection, and just as we have said, I expect this to continue.”
