BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 02.9.04
02 September 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

BRITISH Speedway president Terry Russell would welcome two more clubs into the Elite League next season.

But he is also keen to see the existing 10 clubs remain in the top flight with doubts currently over Oxford and Belle Vue. Russell said: ''A fresh look with new clubs is always nice and I believe that can happen, but hopefully in addition to the current clubs we have.''

NIGEL Wagstaff believes fan power can help the club in their efforts to keep Elite League racing at Oxford. The club have been told they will lose their traditional Friday racenight next season as their landlords want to stage greyhound meetings. Promoter Wagstaff said: ''The fans have already shown their passion for the club and they need to do things like petitions and also approach the local MP.''
