WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 1 : BELLE VUE 47 WOLVES 46
FOR the second away match running, Wolverhampton''s hopes of an away win were dashed in the cruellest possible manner as they conceded a last-race 5-1 to go down by a single-point margin. Unlike at Swindon on Sunday, it was Wolves themselves who had fought back from an earlier deficit, but when the job appeared done and they held a three-point advantage, home duo Joe Screen and Jason Crump raced clear in the last race. It was tough on Mikael Max, who had won his first three rides including a double-points outing in Heat 11 as Wolves recorded an 8-1 to slash an eight-point deficit to one. And David Howe also put up a good performance on a tricky Kirkmanshulme Lane circuit, with Wolves at least taking the aggregate bonus point as some form of consolation. BELLE VUE: Joe Screen 12+1, Rory Schlein 11+1, Jason Crump 10+2, Neil Collins 7, Ronnie Correy 4+1, Jan Jaros 3+1, rider replacement for Kenneth Bjerre. WOLVES: Mikael Max 15, David Howe 9+1, Fredrik Lindgren 7+2, Sam Ermolenko 7, Adam Skornicki 6+2, Eric Carrillo 2, rider replacement for Daniel Nermark.
