12 June 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 COVENTRY skipper Scott Nicholls retained the British Championship with victory at Belle Vue on Sunday. Nicholls clinched the title for the fourth time in his career by beating home duo Joe Screen and Simon Stead, and his Bees team-mate Chris Harris in the Final. Harris had finished top of the qualifying scores as he won four of his five races, but Nicholls had the edge in the crucial final heat. SPEEDWAY 2 GREAT Britain''s Daniel King is through to the World Under-21 Final after finishing fourth in the semi-final at Leszno, Poland, on Sunday. King scored 11 points from his five rides, his only alarm coming with a last place in his fourth outing, in a meeting won by Sweden''s Sebastian Alden. King moves to the Final in Italy on September 2, but fellow Brits Jason King and James Wright were eliminated. SPEEDWAY 3 MORTEN Risager faces up to three months out of action after breaking his right leg in two places in Poland on Sunday. The Denmark and Coventry youngster will return home on Monday for an assessment as to whether the injury requires an operation.
