01 June 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
PETERBOROUGH 54 WOLVERHAMPTON 38 (Elite League) WOLVERHAMPTON battled hard at the Showground but had no answer to the speed and power of the Panthers heat-leaders. Hans Andersen, Ryan Sullivan and Wolves asset Jesper B Jensen proved to be simply too fast as both match and bonus points were collected by the home side who moved back to the top of the Elite League table in the process. Wolves lost Magnus Karlsson after a first-bend incident in Heat 1 which left him with a thigh injury, but they took the lead on the night thanks to a good ride from lively guest Christian Henry in the reserves'' race. Peterborough, however, turned that situation around with maximum points from Sullivan and Niels-Kristian Iveresn in the next race and the Panthers then monopolised the heat winners. Things went badly against Wolves when their move to bring Fredrik Lindgren into Heat 12 as a tactical substitute from a 15-metre handicap backfired. Lindgren was unable to pass either Sullivan or Richard Hall, and Wolves'' chances were virtually over from that point. Andersen negated Billy Hamill''s tactical ride in the next as Jensen suffered mechanical problems before the start and was penalised 15 metres, and Sullivan and Andersen completed maximums in the last heat, the Dane being given a good race by Lindgren before pulling clear in the end. PETERBOROUGH: Ryan Sullivan 15, Hans Andersen 14+1, Jesper B Jensen 9, Niels-Kristian Iversen 7+1, Richard Hall 7+1, Ulrich Ostergaard 2+1, Jon Armstrong 0. WOLVES: Billy Hamill 10, Fredrik Lindgren 9, Peter Karlsson 7+1, Christian Hefenbrock 6+2, Christian Henry 5+2, Ronnie Correy 1+1, Magnus Karlsson 0.
