SPEEDWAY 1 BERWICK promoter Peter Waite took the step of apologising to both sets of supporters after the Bandits were routed 70-20 at King''s Lynn. The Stars sailed into the next round of the Knockout Cup, where they will face close rivals Rye House. Waite said: ''I send unreserved apologies to all Berwick fans, and to the unfortunate King''s Lynn supporters who had to suffer such a dire display. It was intolerable.'' SPEEDWAY 2 EDINBURGH youngster William Lawson has discovered he has a fractured left elbow following a crash at Glasgow on Monday. The news is also a blow to Wolverhampton, as Lawson has performed well in his outings for the Elite League club. Monarchs spokesman Mike Hunter said: ''We will have a better idea next Monday how long his absence is likely to be, as he re-visits hospital for further examination.''
