MOTO GB BRITISH SUPERMOTARD CHAMPIONSHIP – CADWELL PARK 20TH MAY
21 May 2006 - Aprilia

Following both timed and untimed practice, only one thing appeared to stand in the way of the two official UK Aprilia Supermoto Teams – each other!

Reigning British S1 Champion, Christian Iddon riding for the AWSUK team and Sam Warren representing SR Racing Off Road Aprilia were inseparable after free practice, and only heavy rain during one timed session which forced iddon on to row two placed any daylight between the two.

Debuting their Aprilia SXV 550 at British Championship level, the two were reveling in the nature of a very fast and flowing Circuit and reeled off lap after blistering lap to leave the high quality field struggling to match their pace.

In the first S1 Championship race, Warren stormed into a significant lead after early sorting out in the off road section. After 3 laps Iddon carved his way through the field to find himself behind a rapid Warren, Trading fastest laps, Iddon eventually got onto Warrens back wheel and after a deep breath over taking manouvre into the off road section, Iddon managed to get some daylight between himself and Warren when Warren was unable to find a quick way past a bunch of back markers. Despite a storming last few laps, Iddon held his advantage to flag despite rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.

Not a bad debut for the revolutionary V t wins from Noale:

Race 1
1st Christian Iddon – Aprilia SXV 550
2nd Sam Warren – Aprilia SXV 550
3rd Ady Smith KTM 630

The initial stages of the second Championship race followed a similar pattern to the first with the exception of the fact that Warren made a lightening start with iddon hot on his heals. The two circulated as a high speed freight train for approximately half oft the 15 minutes plus one lap race until both executed a synchronized crash in the very slick off road section. Both riders quickly remounted without losing position and returned to the blistering race pace. The rain by this time was heavy and persistent, but incredibly the pace of the first two Aprilia men appeared to change not in the slightest.

Only an incident where he was balked by a back marker and forced on the wet grass at high speed, slowed Warren enough for Iddon to make his break and take the chequered flag and the Championship lead – job done.
Race 2
1st Christian Iddon – Aprilia SXV 550
