BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 1.9.04
01 September 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
BELLE VUE boss John Perrin has revealed how he is prepared to stay at the club if no suitable buyer is found.
He told ClubCall: “I’ve put 17-years of my life into Belle Vue and I’m not going to let someone come and steal it from me. “I want some return on all the hard work and if I don’t get the right offer then of course I’ll stay, it means too much to me.” SHEFFIELD have shocked fans with the booking of big rival Paul Thorp to deputise for injured skipper Sean Wilson against King’s Lynn on Thursday. Thorp is the man Tigers fans love to hate but the club’s co-promoter Neil Machin is hoping that can be brushed aside for the night. He said: “We welcome Thorpy into the team and his appearance certainly adds spice to the fixture. I’m sure the news will raise a few eyebrows!” FIXTURES) WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 1: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Belle Vue v Wolverhampton 7.45, Arena Essex v Oxford 7.45 PREMIER LEAGUE: King’s Lynn v Rye House 7.30, Reading v Exeter 7.30 CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Stoke v Oxford 7.30 CONFERENCE LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP SEMI-FINAL: Wimbledon v Boston 7.30 THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 2: PREMIER LEAGUE: Sheffield v King’s Lynn 7.45 PREMIER LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP: Isle of Wight v Workington 7.30 CHALLENGE: Ipswich v Rye House 7.30 CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Swindon v Newcastle 7pm followed by Swindon v Buxton FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 3: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Peterborough v Arena Essex 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE: Edinburgh v Sheffield 7.30, Somerset v Stoke 7.30 CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Oxford v Boston 7.15 followed by Oxford v Newcastle --- *BREAKING NEWS THROUGHOUT THE DAY AVAILABLE FROM: OFFICIAL BRITISH SPEEDWAY CLUBCALL NEWSLINE 09066 555 909 (calls cost 60p/min)
