WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
30 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

WOLVES are on course for a home draw in the all-important Skybet Elite League play-offs after a comfortable 55-36 win over Belle Vue at Monmore Green.

Peter Adams'' men are hoping to finish second in the regular Elite League standings which would be enough to give them home advantage in the first eliminator. And on this form they should have no worries as they brished aside the Manchester side with greater all-round strength. Veteran Sam Ermolenko rolled back the years with a vintage display for Wolves. He started the night with three straight wins and he was involved in some exciting racing along the way. The Aces used British champion Joe Screen as a tactical ride in Heat 7 to try and restrict the home side but he was passed by Neath in a thrilling race on the line. And world championship leader Jason Crump, who is thew hot favourite to win the title later this month, was also nominated for double points in Heat 9 but he played second fiddle to a stunning Ermolenko ride. Crump, however, had the last word with victory in Heat 15, a race which saw ex-Wolf Ronnie Correy nominated as one of the Belle Vue riders.
WOLVES: Mikael Max 13, Sam Ermolenko 12+1, Adam Skornicki 10+3, Sam Ermolenko 12+1, Fredrik Lindgren 8+2, David Howe 7+1, Chris Neath 5+1. BELLE VUE: Jason Crump 14+1, Ronnie Correy 8+1, Kenneth Bjerre 5, Joe Screen 5, Rory Schlein 2+1, Scott Robson 2, Jan Jaros 0.
