17 May 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
Match Preview
THE Parrys International Wolves go in search of their first Elite League win of the season on the road when they travel to bottom club Oxford on Wednesday. Cowley is the venue of their sole away win so far, as Wolves have already collected a 47-43 win there earlier in the campaign in the Knockout Cup. The Cheetahs raised themselves somewhat with home wins over Reading and Coventry after a miserable run at the start of the season, but undid some of that good work by losing at home to Belle Vue last week to the frustration of owner Aaron Lanney. Wolves name a full-strength side with British Under-21 Champion Ben Wilson included at reserve after an decent showing in the Cup match at Cowley - William Lawson will take over for Thursday''s trip to Swindon with Wilson racing for his Premier League club Sheffield. In any case, Wolves are conscious of not over-using Lawson at this early stage of his career, with manager Peter Adams saying: ''I''ve got to keep my eye him because he is going to get completely blown out if we''re not careful. ''It''s very demanding on him mentally and physically living where he does, so we''ve just got to be careful with him.'' Wolves assets David Howe and Adam Skornicki will be keen to impress against their parent club, whilst Billy Hamill returns to his club of 2005, having helped them win the Craven Shield at the end of the season. OXFORD: Todd Wiltshire, Davey Watt, Adam Skornicki, Freddie Eriksson, David Howe, Lubos Tomicek, Eric Andersson. WOLVES: Peter Karlsson, Magnus Karlsson, Ronnie Correy, Fredrik Lindgren, Billy Hamill, Ben Wilson, Christian Hefenbrock.
