WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
12 May 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

SKIPPER Peter Karlsson put in a magnificent performance to keep Wolves in the hunt at Foxhall before the visitors had to settle for an eight point defeat.

Karlsson won five of his seven races on the way to a mammoth 21-point haul, including a second place in Heat 12 when he was nominated for double points off a 15-metre handicap.

With the super Swede winning three of the first five heats in the match, Wolves edged 16-14 ahead but the home side really turned the screw with consecutive 5-1s in Heats 9 and 10, with guest David Norris working hard in the latter but unable to find a way past Kim Jansson.

Karlsson was finally headed by Mark Loram in an epic battle in Heat 11, and a Witches 4-2 in that race opened their lead to eight points and gave Karlsson his tactical substitute ride. He made it past Carl Wilkinson on lap three to go into second place, but could not catch Robert Miskowiak for six points.

Loram made virtually certain of victory for Ipswich by passing Magnus Karlsson in the early stages of Heat 13, and the points were in the bag in the penultimate race as Christian Hefenbrock was kept at the back with Norris taking his only win of the meeting.
Norris then broke the tapes in Heat 15 and had to go from 15 metres back, so could make no impression on Loram and Chris Louis who once again had to give best to the outstanding Peter Karlsson.

IPSWICH: Mark Loram 11+1, Chris Louis 10+2, Piotr Protasiewicz 10, Kim Jansson 7+1, Robert Miskowiak 5+1, Carl Wilkinson 4, Jan Jaros 3+1.
WOLVES: Peter Karlsson 21, David Norris 10, Magnus Karlsson 4, Ronnie Correy 3+2, Christian Hefenbrock 2, Jason King 2, r/r for Billy Hamill.
